What You'll Learn
Design & Planning
Use design software to plan a folding knife — handle contours, blade shape, backstrap, thumb stud, and bolsters. Learn the specific design requirements of a liner-lock folder for precise fitting.
Component Crafting
Create profiles for liners, blade, and backstrap. Drill, tap, and assemble components with precision. Learn to work to very tight tolerances.
Assembly & Finishing
Fit bolsters and handles with hidden pivots. Harden, grind, and mirror-polish the blade. Perform decorative filework and anodize titanium liners.
Technical Skills
Drill and tap threads for micro screws. Shape and fit bolsters and handles. Harden and temper knife steel. Anodize titanium liners. Apply a logo using photo-chemical etching.
